Strata series, 2020-2022

I create accumulative planar sculptures that explore the limits of ceramic material. Through repetitive layering of colored slips and paper, I reexamine what it means to be a ceramic artist, creating pieces that are so supremely delicate that they will not withstand the test of time. The inevitability of damage and eventual destruction of each fragile sculpture forces the contemplation of time and our own mortality.
